August 17, 2001
- On this date, the claims administrator began mailing "Claim Verification" forms to
eligible class members, after many months of work in analyzing information provided
by the Government about the individual employment histories of over 100,000 class members.
November 30, 2001
- This was the date when the first checks for back pay were mailed to class members.
The amount of each check represents 100% of the total COLA underpayment during the
ten-year back pay period in accordance with the terms of the settlement.
February 17, 2002
- This was the settlement's original deadline for class members to submit claim
verification forms and for completing the distribution of back pay to most class
members. The claim filing deadline was extended for class members covered by reports
submitted by employing agencies after August 17, 2001, and for class members who notified
the claims administrator of questions or objections.
November 8, 2002
- This date marked the expiration of all extended deadlines for submitting and completing
Claim Verification forms.
November 21, 2005
- This was the date of mailing the Supplemental Claim forms to all eligible class members.
December 21, 2005
- This was the deadline for receipt of Supplemental Claim forms by the Claims Administrator
in order for eligible claimant to receive a supplemental award.
February 10, 2006
- This was the date of mailing checks to all eligible class members who properly submitted a
Supplemental Claim form.
March 31, 2006
- This is the extended deadline for receipt of complete Supplemental Claim forms
by the Claims Administrator in order for eligible claimants to receive the supplemental
award. Checks for these claims will be mailed by April 14, 2006, and will not be reissued.
March 31, 2006
- This is the extended deadline to cash your Supplemental Distribution check issued in
February 2006. The checks expired by their terms on March 10, 2006. Any checks that
remain outstanding as of April 3, 2006 will be voided with the bank, and will not be
honored.
If you attempt to cash one of these checks, you may be charged a fee by your bank.
The Trust will NOT refund any fees associated with attempting to cash a stale dated
check.
April 14, 2006
- If an eligible class member has timely submitted a valid and complete Supplemental Claim form by December 21, 2005, but did not receive the check that was sent, this is the date by which the Claims Administrator must have received a valid request for reissue. This date has been extended by the Trustee from March 16, 2006. The Settlement Administrator will reissue such checks the week ending April 21, 2006, on supplemental claims where a valid and timely reissue request was received.
